International church meeting in Madrid
The Northern Catholic Church community in Spain will hold an international church meeting near Madrid, in the town of Pozuelo de Alarcón, from September 3 to 6, 2026.
The program is hosted in a monastery house, where a conference room and chapel are also available for the participants. The meeting begins for the clergy on Thursday, September 3, and the lay participants join on Friday, September 4. The event concludes on Sunday, September 6.
One of the highlights of the weekend program will be the presentation of the Spanish–Mozarabic liturgy. This liturgical tradition was preserved by the Christians of the Iberian Peninsula during the centuries of Muslim rule. Its roots go back to the period before the 1054 church schism, making it a particularly valuable part of the ancient Western Christian heritage.
Participants will also visit the San Lorenzo de El Escorial monastery and palace complex, which was a residence of the Spanish monarchs for centuries.
The program includes joint worship services, lectures, and discussions, as well as opportunities to visit the sights of Madrid.
