A commemoration will be held on the occasion of Roma Holocaust Memorial Day in Gyomaendrőd
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 3 PM, a commemoration will be held on the occasion of the Roma Holocaust Memorial Day at the Holy Family Chapel in Gyomaendrőd.
The event begins with a holy mass, followed by a joint candle lighting and the placement of a single flower in memory of the victims of the Roma Holocaust. The organizers aim to collectively pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the persecutions and to bear witness to human dignity, peace, and solidarity.
The motto of the invitation is from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Mt 5:9)
The organizers warmly welcome everyone interested to the commemoration to remember the victims of the Roma Holocaust in joint prayer and silent tribute, and to strengthen the values of mutual respect, reconciliation, and brotherly unity.
