“For if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.”
Romans 14:8

We often hear this sentence at funerals, so it is easy to feel as if it primarily speaks about death. But Saint Paul first talks about life: if we live, we live for the Lord.

We live now. Now is the time to love, forgive, serve, do good, and start over. Now we can give our days, our work, our strength, and all that we have received to God.

Living for God does not mean that we must do something extraordinary every moment. It means that even in our everyday lives, we do not forget to whom we belong. The way we speak, the way we turn to others, the way we carry out the tasks entrusted to us… All of this can be part of a life given to God.

Death will come in its own time. Until then, we must prepare. But in such a way that we do not miss the opportunities life gives us.

We must live now. And now we must live for God.
