It is not enough that we have ears. The question is whether we truly hear the Lord’s voice. Do we hear the gospel, the quiet warning of conscience, the word of truth?

There are times when we must be silent, because words would only wound. And there are times when it is our duty to speak up, because silence would strengthen evil. Christian wisdom does not lie in much speaking, but in recognizing when each serves love and truth.

It is worth asking ourselves: Do I listen to my conscience? Can I remain silent when there is no point in arguing? And do I have the courage to speak up when my voice can serve my own or my fellow human beings’ good?

Let our speech be straightforward, honest, and loving – not flattering, not calculating, but such that the voice of Christ can also be recognized in it. For whoever truly has ears not only hears the Lord’s word but also obeys it.
